Lyrics:
Can you believe it,
I've won no medals
In this love game.
I've been resting on my laurels,
I'm a bad loser,
I'm a yard off my pace.
I smell rubber
And I soon discover
That you're gone for good.
My indiscretions
Made a bad impression,
Guess I was misunderstood.
I thought you needed my lovin',
But it's my heart that you stole.
I thought you wanted my money,
But you plundered my soul.
(Plundered my soul)
I started askin' around,
But your friends'
Pretty lips were sealed.
I wrote a letter
Full of trite confessions
About wounds that heal.
I heard some gossip,
You'd become an alcoholic,
You were dryin' out.
So I phoned every clinic
In the Yellow Pages,
Not a trace I found.
I thought you needed my lovin',
But it's my heart that you stole.
I thought you wanted my money,
But you plundered my soul.
(Plundered my soul)
I hate quittin',
But I'm close to admittin'
I'm a sorry case.
But on quiet reflection,
My sad rejection's
Not a total disgrace.
But I do miss your quick repartee
And the smile
That lights up your face.
You'll be a hard act to follow,
A bitter pill to swallow,
You'll be tough, you'll be tough to replace.
I thought you wanted my lovin',
But it's my heart that you stole.
You were a trick up my sleeve,
My ace in the hole.
I thought you wanted my money,
But you plundered my soul.
Oh, plundered my soul
Oh yeah (plundered my soul)
You plundered my soul
Yeah, yeah (plundered my soul)
Oh, yes, yes, yes you, baby
(Plundered my soul)

'Plundered My Soul' was officially released in the United Kingdom today and has been available for download since midnight. International fans can listen on Youtube by clicking Read more!
A new official group has been established on Facebook as a campaign to take the new Rolling Stones single, 'Plundered My Soul' to number one of the UK charts in just seven days. Purchase the single when it comes out on Friday 16th of April (or within the next week) to help it reach No.1!
It's a significant release as the track is actually from the 1972 'Exile On Main Street' sessions that has been given a 2010 tweak by Mick and Keith for an official single release.
If this tops the charts the Rolling Stones will break the chart record for the longest gap between a No.1 single for an artist, with 'Honky Tonk Women' being their last UK chart-topper back in 1969.
The other day we reported that Plundered My Soul was being released as a single and All Down The Line as its B-side. Well, now you can pre-order the tracks from iTunes. The total cost for the single is 1.49 pounds (both tracks included) and, as far as I'm aware, it's currently only available in the United Kingdom. However, if you pre-order it (which I already have) it will automatically download on the release date, 16th April 2010 (a week from now). Click here for more information on how to pre-order the single! In iTunes, you can also here a 30 second preview of the track before you buy it (if you want to spoil it for yourself!).
iTunes has also blessed us with the never-before-seen album art of the single. It features the Rolling Stones tongue filled with the Exile photo-pattern, with 'Plundered My Soul' written on the top-right in the standard Exile font. Look to the top of this post to see the preview!
According to Rolling Stone Magazine, The Rolling Stones will be releasing a limited edition 7" vinyl single of 'Plundered My Soul', one of the never-heard-before tracks to be featured on the forthcoming re-issue of Exile on Main Street, on May 18th. The B-side will be the re-mastered version of All Down The Line.
A week later, Plundered My Soul will be played on radio stations across the nation, and, reportedly, a music video for the single is in the works.
The single is being released as part of Record Store Day on April 17th. Click here to find your participating store!
